Discovering the Power of Carbon Filters
Known as the workhorses of filtration, carbon filters are dedicated to combating chemicals and enhancing the aroma and taste of water, promising a consistently crisp and invigorating drink. By targeting common chemicals like chlorine, chloramines, and various pesticides and herbicides, carbon filters ensure that your water not only meets safety standards but also delights the senses.
In municipal water systems, chlorine and chloramine play crucial roles in disinfecting water and guaranteeing its potability. However, their lingering chemical taste and odor can detract from the drinking experience. Here's where carbon filters come to the rescue!
Carbon filters employ a process called adsorption to reduce chemicals. Packed with activated carbon featuring numerous pores across its surface, these filters capture or transform contaminants as water flows through them. The result? Clean, revitalizing water emerges on the other side, free from unwanted flavors and scents.
What makes carbon filters even more appealing is their affordability, simplicity of maintenance, and adaptability. Whether installed under your kitchen sink for immediate access to fresh tap water or positioned at your home's entry point to ensure filtered water flows from every faucet and showerhead, carbon filters offer a versatile solution to your filtration needs.
At Vita Filters, we offer two primary types of carbon filters: granular activated carbon (GAC) filters and carbon block filters. While both effectively remove common chemicals like chlorine, pesticides, and herbicides from your water supply, they each have distinct features. Read on to discover which option best suits your needs. And if you're unsure, our team of water experts is here to assist you!
Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) Filters: These filters boast an excellent flow rate with adequate filtration. Comprised of individual granules, they provide a direct path for filtration, resulting in a high flow rate. However, there is a possibility of some contaminants slipping through, as water has only one flow channel and less time and surface area for adsorption to occur.
Carbon Block Filters: Offering an adequate flow rate with excellent filtration, carbon block filters utilize activated carbon in a denser structure compared to GAC filters. The granular carbon is compressed into a solid, porous form, allowing for increased filtration capacity. Despite this advantage, water flow is restricted due to the dense structure of the carbon.
Consider these distinctions carefully to determine the best carbon filter for your specific needs. And remember, our team is ready to provide expert guidance if you need further assistance!
